New Q-Amp Digital only masthead amplifier

Hills Antenna & TV Systems has recently released a new version of its widely accepted Q-Amp masthead amplifier.  Designed with a high pass filter to filter all frequencies below VHF channel 6, the “Q-Amp Digital” is intended for use in applications where only digital VHF and UHF TV is required.

With the progression of the switch-over from Analogue TV throughout regional Australia, and increasing spread of digital TV in metropolitan regions, there is now a firm requirement for a “digital-only” masthead amplifier.

The key requirement for masthead amplifiers is to minimise noise in the receiver system.  The noise figure is a measure of how much noise is added by the amplifier circuitry, but amplifiers can also degrade the system performance by amplifying electrical noise that may be picked up by the antenna.

By only amplifying the wanted frequency range, the Q-Amp Digital masthead amplifier provides improved margin above the “cliff effect” compared to wideband amplifiers.  Thus any low frequency or impulse noise below 174MHz is excluded from the receive system.

The Q-Amp Digital is based on the proven performance and reliability of the original Q-Amp and retains all of its features and versatility.

A digital only version of the LNDA masthead amplifier is also available.
